HISTORY OF MWAN BENUE STATE BRANCH AND OVERVIEW OF HER ACTIVITIES.
The Medical Women Association Benue state branch was formally inaugurated on the 4th of September, 2007 at Akpegede Otukpo at the request of Dr. Mrs Esohie Rosemary Eno-Mark, wife of the then Senate President by the then National President Dr. Eleanor A. Nwadinobi.

MWAN Benue is involved in lots of health promotive and preventive activities that enables women take charge of their health. This is done through the following;
Health education talks in the media (Radio/TV)
Health education/career talks in secondary schools, churches, markets etc.
Free screening for HIV, breast, cancer, hypertension, obesity, diabetes etc.
Health outreaches to schools, churches, markets, orphanages and various communities.
Collaboration with government, NGOs, other medical and non-medical bodies to carry out health campaigns etc.
MWAN Benue in collaboration with Federal Medical Centre Makurdi on the 18th of February will be flagging off a monthly free screening programme for breast and cervical cancers using mammography and PAP smear. About 100 women will be screened monthly.
ACTIVITIES OF MWAN FROM OCTOBER 2019 TILL DATE.
In October 2019 breast cancer awareness programme was done. MWAN was involved in an awareness walk and also lectures were delivered to about 234 women with practical demonstration of self-breast examination.
On 2nd December MWAN Benue celebrated the World AIDS day via awareness walk and health education and about 2000 people were reached out to.
Celebration of World Cancer day was commemorated on the 3rd and 8th of February at Wadata Market, Makurdi and NKST church Lobi, Makurdi; respectively, where about 700 women were educated on breast and cervical cancers with emphasis on prevention, early detection and streatment. Also, Dr’s Swende Laadi and Daniel Melinda were guests on a radio talk show to raise awareness on cancer.
