The MWAN Edo in collaboration with The Edo State Ministry of Health,  Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Edo State,  World Health Organization(WHO) Edo State, The Association of Public Health Physicians (APHPN) and Ranbaxy Pharmaceticals celebrated the World Malaria  Day 2019 with a rally which kicked off from the University of Benin Teaching Hospital(UBTH), proceeded to the Edo State Ministry of Health and ended at the Benin Prisons. 
A medical outreach was held for inmates and workers at the facility as a way of helping these less-privileged ones.  Screening for malaria was carried out, treatment was given and commodities such as Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINS)  were distributed. 
Also in attendance were the Permanent Secretary, Health and the Assistant Commissioner of Police among other dignitaries

Benin City was agog with Excitement as the Medical Women of Nigeria, Edo State Chapter began the day with a sensitization rally around prominent areas in the town. Fliers were distributed to educate the public on the need for regular screening as ‘early detection saves lives’.
A Screening exercise involving breast examination and pap smear followed immediately after at the Edo State Specialist Hospital as a way of backing our words with actions.
It was a great day for MWAN Edo!!!
